Milestones

  • 1956 : Hamdi Başaran founded the “Hamdi Başaran Topkapı Oksijen Fabrikası” company in Topkapı/İstanbul. The first gaseous oxygen production began.
  • 1967 : The company was renamed to its current title: “HABAŞ Sınai ve Tıbbi Gazlar İstihsal Endüstrisi A.Ş.” HABAŞ’s air separation unit at Topkapi/İstanbul began producing the first liquid nitrogen and liquid argon in Türkiye alongside liquid oxygen.
  • 1969 Pressurized vessel, steel gas cylinder, equipment and machinery production began.
  • 1977 : The first production of acetylene gas cylinders in Türkiye began at HABAŞ’s cylinder manufacturing plant.
  • 1983 : The first production of cryogenic tanks in Türkiye began at HABAŞ’s metals fabrication plant.
  • 1984 : LPG distribution started across the country.
  • 1987 : Liquid steel production began in Aliağa/İzmir with an annual capacity of 600.000 tons.
  • 1990 : The first production of seamless gas cylinders in Türkiye began at HABAŞ’s cylinder manufacturing plant in Aliağa/İzmir.
  • 1992 : The bar rolling mill began operating at the steel plant.
  • 1997 : The HABAŞ Group entered the financial sector by acquiring Anadolubank, in a privatization tender which initially had three branches.
  • 1999 : The Safety Award 1999 of EIGA (European Industrial Gases Association) was received.
  • 2000 : Liquid carbondioxide production plant began operating in Aliağa/İzmir.
  • 2001 : HABAŞ obtained  the first ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Certificate in the industrial  gas sector.
  • 2002 : HABAŞ began delivering LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) to clients that did not have access to the natural gas pipeline for the first time in Türkiye.
  • 2002 : The 54 MW cogeneration power plant was commissioned.
  • 2003 : HABAŞ began delivering CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) to clients that did not have access to the natural gas pipeline for the first time in Türkiye.
  • 2004 : The 240 MW natural gas combined cycle power plant began operating in Aliağa/İzmir.
  • 2007 : The largest gaseous hydrogen production plant in the country began operating in İzmit.
  • 2008 : The second plant for heavy machinery fabrication began operating in Gebze/Kocaeli.
  • 2010 : The new air separation plant began operating in Aliağa/İzmir.
  • 2010 :The liquid carbondioxide production plant began operating in Aydın/İzmir.
  • 2011 : The largest air separation plant in the country began operating in İzmit.
  • 2014 : HABAS Hot Strip Mill was commissioned and started producing Hot Rolled, Pickled Oiled Coils, Slitted and Cut To Length Sheets  in Aliağa/İzmir.
  • 2014 : The air separation plant in Polatlı industrial Zone located in Ankara began operating.
  • 2016 : HABAŞ Hamdi Başaran Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi (Technical High School) opening ceremony.
  • 2017 : Liquid steel production capacity reached 4,500,000 tons per year.
  • 2018 : The 800 MW natural gas combined cycle power plant began operating in Aliağa/İzmir.
  • 2020 : Liquid carbondioxide production plant began operating in Denizli.
  • 2020 : The number of Anadolubank branches reached 115 throughout Türkiye.
  • 2021 : Heavy duty vehicle prototype production (trucks and busses) started in Manisa.
  • 2022 : Motorcycle production started in İzmir.
  • 2022  Ship-building in Tuzla Bay started with shipyard investments.
  • 2022 : The investment on car manufacturing started in Şekerpınar/Gebze.
  • 2023 : Liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon production capacities reached 5500 tons and stock capacity reached 45000 tons.
  • 2024 : The new hydrogen production plant with a capacity of 500 m3/hours was commissioned in İzmit.
  • 2024 : HABAŞ celebrates the 68th anniversary of its establishment.
